Classic Waffles


Here’s my favorite classic waffle recipe which makes about 8 waffles. They freeze well for quick weekday breakfasts. If you want the waffles less sweet for savory style (see pic below) use just one tablespoon sugar.

I like my waffles topped with berries, toasted nuts, maple syrup and butter. 

Other good savory ideas...sautéed mushrooms and a fried egg....bacon and scrambled eggs....avocado, prosciutto, tomato and basil...⁣

Classic Waffles⁣⁣⁣⁣
2 cups flour⁣⁣⁣⁣
2 Tbs sugar⁣⁣⁣⁣
1 tsp baking powder⁣⁣⁣⁣
1 tsp salt⁣⁣⁣⁣
2 eggs, room temp⁣⁣⁣⁣
1 1/2 cups warm milk⁣⁣⁣⁣
4 Tbs unsalted butter, melted⁣⁣⁣⁣
1 tsp vanilla extract⁣⁣⁣⁣

Preheat waffle iron. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl and whisk to combine.⁣⁣⁣⁣

In a separate small bowl whisk eggs, milk, melted butter and vanilla.⁣⁣⁣⁣

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and whisk until blended.⁣⁣⁣⁣

Rub or brush waffle iron with butter or oil.⁣⁣⁣⁣

Ladle batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook until waffles are golden brown and crisp. Usually a light will go on or off!⁣⁣⁣⁣

Serve with berries, maple syrup, powdered sugar, whipped cream, etc. ⁣
